Trent Byerly

Trent brings 25 years of experience helping multi-generational families make financial decisions aligned with their values and goals. Known for his independent advice and deeply personalized approach, he founded Mossy Creek Wealth in 2005 to create a more thoughtful and relationship-driven planning experience.

A Shenandoah Valley native and a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Finance, Trent’s perspective is shaped by life’s real challenges — including the loss of both parents to cancer, the transition of a family farm, marriage, divorce, and raising three children: Matthew, Ryan, and Brooke. These experiences inform the empathy and insight he brings to clients navigating their own transitions. His support of one grandmother who lived to 105 and another who faced decades of health challenges has also deepened his understanding of longevity planning and elder care.

Trent believes life is defined by outlier events. His planning philosophy is rooted in gratitude, goal-setting, and relationship-building — helping clients turn life’s inevitable gaps into long-term gains. He is known for thinking creatively, simplifying complexity, and empowering clients to move forward with confidence. A lifelong learner, Trent invests in personal growth to better understand his own blind spots and strengths so he can serve others more effectively.

Outside of work, Trent enjoys spending time at his cabin in Highland County, relaxing at Smith Mountain Lake, traveling, overseeing his family’s farm, and staying current on emerging technologies like AI. He lives in the Shenandoah Valley with his children and two dogs and is committed to raising resilient kids while building brighter financial futures for his clients.
