What services does Farther provide?

We offer a comprehensive suite of services including personalized wealth management, financial planning, retirement planning, and trust and estate planning. We also provide tax optimization strategies, small business services (including 401(k) management), and institutional services for nonprofits, endowments, and foundations.

What makes Farther’s technology different from other wealth management firms?

Unlike legacy institutions that rely on "bolted-on" or off-the-shelf tools, Farther’s Intelligent Wealth Platform is proprietary and natively built from the ground up. This unique structure allows our platform and its benefits to continuously evolve alongside the industry and technology, ensuring our clients and advisors are never held back by outdated systems.

What is the Intelligent Wealth Platform?

Farther’s Intelligent Wealth Platform is a unified wealth management platform, designed to unlock greater wealth for clients throughout their financial lives. For clients, Farther’s wealth management technology integrates their entire financial world into a single, trusted view upon which they can act, and through which they can more effectively interact with their advisor. For advisors, Farther’s Intelligent Wealth Platform enables expert focus on client wealth-building strategy and relationships, not the distracting back-office admin that Farther manages for them. The platform delivers advisors predictive planning tools that turn client goals into data-driven financial roadmaps, access to advanced wealth strategies adjusted for risk/reward tolerance and client goal horizons, plus intelligent execution technology that transforms complex (often subpar quality) data into actionable insights that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of market execution.

How does Farther’s technology improve my investment returns?

Our platform is engineered to optimize after-tax returns. We utilize a Wealth Optimization Engine to proactively identify opportunities such as tax-loss harvesting, advanced portfolio customization, and sophisticated asset location. Additionally, our technology eliminates common administrative errors and helps advisors identify wealth-building opportunities with greater speed and precision.

Is my financial data secure?

Yes. It is our foremost priority to safeguard your confidential information. Our platform is powered by AWS, ensuring the highest levels of data security and compliance.

Does Farther offer financial planning or just investment management?

We provide both. Farther offers investment advice based on personalized information provided via our platform, crafting bespoke portfolio allocations or using proprietary algorithms for model portfolios. Beyond investments, we develop personalized financial roadmaps that evolve with your life milestones, helping you model scenarios for cash flow, tax strategy, and lifestyle needs.

What is Farther’s approach to tax optimization?

We focus on minimizing taxes to maximize your investment growth potential. Our strategies include automated tax-loss harvesting to optimize tax outcomes year-round, as well as sophisticated asset location that strategically places assets across taxable and tax-advantaged accounts to maximize efficiency across your household portfolio.

How does Farther charge for its services?

For clients: We generally provide investment advisory services on a "wrap fee" basis. This means you pay a single specified annual fee that includes investment advisory services, trade execution, custody, and reporting. This fee is typically calculated as a percentage of your assets under our management.

Are there other fees or costs I should be aware of?

While the wrap fee covers many costs, clients may be responsible for certain charges such as fees for trades executed away from the account's custodian, trustee fees, mutual fund and ETF internal expenses, mark-ups/mark-downs, transfer taxes, and other administrative fees mandated by law. These fees are in addition to the program fee paid to Farther.

Is Farther a fiduciary?

Yes. When we act as your investment adviser, we are legally obligated to act in your best interest and not put our interest ahead of yours. We have a fiduciary duty to provide services consistent with the client's best interest.

Where are my assets held?

Farther generally recommends that client investment management accounts be maintained at qualified custodians such as Charles Schwab Corporation, Apex Clearing Corporation, Fidelity Investments, or Pershing, LLC. These custodians hold your investment assets and provide trade execution and reporting services.
